Question by : Problems with Doctor Who Cellphone Charm?
I just got this really cute cell phone charm from my sister; a Doctor Who tardis one to be exact. But it’s not working. It hasn’t worked once. :’( Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with it? I pulled out the little activation tab and everything, but it doesn’t work!! On the website, they said it only works with “800 – 1600 MHz GSM network cellphones”. I’m thinking maybe this might be the problem, but I don’t know what that means. Help me, please!!

I don’t know where you live but GSM is popular in Europe. (Digital) Cell phones are iether CDMA or GSM aka TDMA. Your phone provider has made this choice. In the US, GSM / TDMA is used by Quest and AT&T, but they may also have CDMA systems. It’s also possible that you have a GSM system operating above 1600MHz, ie 1800MHz. Qualcom and I think, Verizon mostly use CDMA. Your charm is probably supposed to detect the pulses that a GSM phone sends when it responds to an incoming call. A CDMA phone does not operate this way.
